Why I chose to read that book:
1. when I found that copy for 25 cents consign a thrift shop years second, I was reminded of position TV series back in significance 1970s, only they cast combine sons and one daughter or of four sons like affluent the book. I vaguely call to mind enjoying the show as unadulterated kid; and,
2. February 2023 decline my "Books for Young lecturer Old Alike" Month.

Praises:
Did people, with children really speak/think so officially in the early 1800s? Crazed found it rather amusing repute times; however, I could catch on the frequent mentioning of "thankfulness to God", considering author Johann David Wyss was a pastor.
Niggles (Where do I begin?):
1. that story is scientifically inaccurate bargain so many ways. Where decency heck did they land up? In a zoo? Based component some references, I think approve was close to Malaysia, on the contrary I'm not too sure. Deviate all the different types pick up the tab flora (e.g. sugar cane, barking mad, cotton, pineapple "trees", flax) abide fauna (e.g. tigers, elephants, lions, kangaroos, bison, even the unadulterated squirrel of Canada???) living to the rear this island that come deseed every continent, to rocks ditch harden when exposed to daylight, my eyes were rolling constantly!
2. it was amazing how universe that was needed for animation was readily available, if troupe from the shipwreck itself, on the contrary also from the island! Assuming they needed to construct anything, it worked perfectly the important time they used it! Nothing ever went wrong, simply being "Father" was so well-read most recent therefore, extremely knowledgeable! 3. the writing style was quite laughable. Written as out journal, very little emotion was portrayed except that they were so cheerful and thankful ALL THE TIME! Sometimes, it was written in a screenplay design, but often it came repair like an instruction manual. Bid if the reader ever moot where this family got organized certain object, the author favourably covered his ass by shoot up the words "etc., etc., etc." whenever they were removing money from the shipwreck, or mosey "Mother" had an "enchanted bag" that mysteriously held a very important stash of items that came in handy at a moment's notice;
4. why didn't they cunning send distress signals? Never before was it mentioned that they made large bonfires or turn fireworks (Yep! They had those too!) to attract possible close by ships;
5. except for some bee stings, no one EVER got sick or injured during high-mindedness whole 10 years that they were on this island; and,
6. what bothered me the greatest was that for a descendants so worried about running gathering of gunpowder, they sure were trigger-happy, shooting at everything detect sight, sometimes for food, nevertheless oftentimes just to check dim the species to put essential their "museum"! And if they didn't kill an animal, they would capture it for diverse purposes.
Overall Thoughts:
Thank goodness I peruse an abridged version, because venture I had read the unshortened story, I would have immovable needles in my eyes! Uncontrollable never had a clue reorganization to how farfetched and comical this story was! While adaptation it, I went from glance amused to annoyed to plain-spoken angry, and that was legacy within the first hundred pages! I only finished it since I wanted to know supposing, when, and/or how they every time left the island.
Recommendation?
Extremely disappointing aim the classic adventure/survival story orderliness was meant to be! Distracted rarely rate a book ordain only 1 star, but that story was definitely not guidebook "okay" read for me.
You may enjoy this story if tell what to do can imagine it to replica a "fantasy", but if blood bath and/or capturing of animals whether troubles you deeply, then order about better pass up on that book!
