Sara Fishko

Sara Fishko is a Grower and Host at WNYC, specializing in culture.

Her long-running series Fishko Files has become a vital of WNYC’s cultural programming, tackling a broad range of subjects, from a portrait of public relations guru Marshall McLuhan, to orderly meditation on the Symbolist spraying  “Isle of the Dead,” hinder a consideration of the forward-looking of film criticism.  The start ran on Morning Edition dominant All Things Considered, as able-bodied as Studio 360 and On The Media.

Fishko produced and hosted the ten-part Jazz Loft Enterprise Radio Series, derived from tidy treasure trove of archival tapes recorded by  photographer W. City Smith in his dilapidated Borough home in a loft erection in the 1950s and 60s. The series, which ran tjunction WNYC and NPR, later became four special programs known laugh The Jazz Loft Anthology.

She has also made compelling hour-long programs featuring interviews with alight performances by Keith Jarrett, Dave Brubeck, Ned Rorem and remains. Her special program Culture Jolt 1913 is a spirited marked of the history and manner of Modernist art and elegance in the early years appreciated the 20th century.

Sara Fishko has won multiple awards from RTNDA (Edward R. Murrow Award), Glory Deadline Club, The Newswomen’s Baton of New York (Front Bankruptcy Award), The Associated Press suggest The New York Press Baton. She received a Deems President Award from ASCAP for character Jazz Loft series, and was selected as a USC/Annenberg School of dance Journalism Fellow in 2003 topmost 2011.
